Government initiatives for regeneration have changed how social housing providers approach the repair, refurbishment and renewal of their stock.
We recognise that our clients are creating decent communities and socially inclusive environments and our approach to regeneration is centred around building communities and not simply repairing and refurbishing existing buildings and providing new ones.
We believe that Partnerships which combine the knowledge and support of public sector organisations and the active participation of the local community with professional project management and the skills of the contractor/developer, are key to a successful regeneration scheme.
- Client: Poplar HARCA
- Role: Masterplanner Consultants
Pellings were selected to work in partnership with Poplar HARCA (Housing and Regeneration Community Association) as masterplanners for the redevelopment of social housing within the London Borough of Tower Hamlets as part of their 'Housing Choice' stock transfer programme.
We were subsequently appointed as masterplanner consultants on our first estate, comprising a total of 300 existing units.
Redevelopment includes demolition of 100 low density units and vandalised shops and replacement with 350 new high density units , a new retail centre and community facilities to create a balanced sustainable community.
The Estate is close to London's proposed 2012 Olympic site and our plans link in with those for the wider Leaside area.
