Pellings Case Study Appears in Management Book
Pellings have appeared in a newly published management book aimed at property professionals.
“Growing your Property Partnership- Plans Promotion and People” by Journalist and Management Consultant Kim Tasso is aimed at surveyors and others who are managers but have not had any specific “management” training. It is written in a light-hearted style with lots of practical examples.
The case study illustrates how Pellings have implemented strategic business planning. It describes how we have introduced sectors and services in order to segment our “market” and the successes achieved and lessons learnt through introducing a business planning approach.
The book is published by EG books and can be purchased via their online bookshop

Pellings are “Making History” for Whiteley Village Trust
Graham Burkle, along with Mike Rycroft, Warden of Whiteley Village, were recently interviewed by BBC Radio 4 programme “Making History”, the series that explores ordinary people's links with the past, about the history of Whitely Village, the endowment of William Whiteley, who left £1 million to provide homes for, in his words, "aged poor persons" and the Arts and Crafts architectural movement, of which the Village is an exceptional example.
Pellings have been engaged by Whiteley Homes Trust as architectural consultants to deal with all planning and construction related matters since 2004.
This has involved managing the ongoing refurbishment and remodeling of the Grade II listed cottages that constitute the main part of the Village. We have also successfully helped market a development site within the village to a private developer and undertaken the consequential enabling works. Other projects are in the pipeline.
Orpington College Redevelopment
Pellings are providing Project Management for Orpington College redevelopment. The work involves the complete refurbishment on a floor by floor basis of the ten storey 1970s tower block together with the construction of a new four storey Teaching Block, Refectory and Communal Block.
Pellings Project Managers Adam Granger and Joe Copland supported the College through the complicated procedures of funding and provide on going Project Management support. Peter Wade and Clifford Tyler are fulfilling the role of Employers Agent. The works commenced on site in July 2008 and are expected to finish in the summer of 2010. The total value of the project is over £25 million and the main Contractor undertaking the project is Willmott Dixon.
A two storey temporary accommodation block has been provided and some old temporary classrooms and other structures demolished. The refurbishment of the ground floor of the Tower has already been completed and handed over.
Progress on the new four storey Teaching Block can be tracked by a webcam that has been installed by Willmott Dixon. To view live images of the site click here.

To take responsibility for our impact on the climate, Croydon Churches Housing Association and Pellings have offset the carbon emissions omitted in undertaking the Association’s Decent Homess Programme from September 2008 until April 2009 with ClimateCare.
The Croydon Church HA programme is a partnering contract and Pellings are providing Client Representative, Cost Consultancy and CDM Coordinator services. This innovative decision to reduce our impact on the environment was undertaken as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.

Pellings achieves accreditation under ISO9001:2000
Pellings LLP recently achieved accreditation under ISO90001:2000 Quality Management System. After having embarked on the process towards the end of last year, formal accreditation was received last month after assessments were undertaken by ISOQAR.
Having our QMS officially recognised with an international kitemark of quality is important for Pellings. Geoff Kelsey, Pellings Partner responsible for the smooth transition, believes "Achieving accreditation under ISO9001:2000 brings all our previous systems and processes into one core system. Our Quality Management System is now more comprehensive, outlining our commitment to quality as well as process monitoring, management and measurement. Customer care and continuous improvement have always been important to us, and this has been endorsed by our ISO accreditation. I am confident that achieving accreditation under this recognisable kitemark of quality will satisfy the requirements of our clients"
Pellings are now looking to achieve accreditation under ISO14001 Environmental Management System, which is expected to be undertaken towards the Summer of 2009...
